About the Artist:
Josef Steinling (1846–1915) was a Viennese historical painter and restorer active in the late 19th and early 20th century Vienna art scene.
Biographical Details:
Profession: He is documented primarily as a historical painter and restorer.
Career: Steinling was closely connected with the Vienna Künstlerhaus. There, in 1894, he assumed the role of Librarian as successor to the copper engraver Victor Jasper.
Exhibitions: His works were shown at major exhibitions, including the Austrian Jubilee Art Exhibition in Vienna.
Portraits & Archive: The Wien Museum preserves several photographs of him, showing him in Tyrolean costume as well as together with his wife Anna.
