You are bidding on a fin master 4/4 violin, labeled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q Raphael fecit Taurini anno Domini 1836.
The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with no cracks, new rosewood set up and new strings. The whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 357 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm.
Materials: very nice two pieces softly flamed maple back with matched sides and scroll and straight medium grained spruce top. The inlaid purfling is very shiny, nearly pitch black and made of wale bone. The f-holes are beautifully executed. Golden-brown-reddish varnish remains in good condition.
The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
