Description from the seller
Pair of brass wall lamps – classic French style – 20th century
Description
Elegant pair of brass wall sconces with a classic taste, characterized by turned lines and harmonious proportions that recall traditional French style.
The structure features a horizontal arm with a decorative terminal ring and a central body with a spherical element, typical of neoclassical-inspired productions reinterpreted during the 20th century.
The candle holder is made with a faux poured wax effect, a detail that helps recreate the atmosphere of antique candle lighting.
The patina of the brass, warm and lived-in, gives authenticity and charm to the objects, making them particularly suitable for both classical settings and more contemporary contexts in contrast.
Ideal for entryways, corridors or living areas, where they can create discreet but characterful lighting focal points.
Technical specifications
Type: wall sconces
Material: brass
Number of pieces: 2
Height: 32 cm
Width: about 8 x 11.5 cm
Total weight: 1.260 kg
Lamp holder: small screw-in socket (E14, to be verified)
Electrical installation present (not tested)
Condition
Generally good condition for age. They show: natural brass patina, signs of oxidation and surface wear, small imperfections and signs of time on the metal, marks on the candle-simulated wax on the lamp holder. One of the two sconces is slightly off-axis.
Electrical installation to be checked. The photographs are an integral part of the description.
Curiosity
This type of wall sconce is directly inspired by French models of the 18th and 19th centuries, when wall lights were designed to host candles. In the course of the 20th century, these shapes were reinterpreted in electric terms, while preserving decorative details such as the faux poured wax.
