Description from the seller
Title: Red Fish
School: Hyperrealism, 20th century
Author: Jordi Prat i Pons (1965)
Style: Hyperrealism
Technique: Oil on panel
Author: Jordi Prat i Pons is a painter linked to a figurative approach of great technical precision, focused on meticulous observation of objects and on faithful reproduction of textures, volumes and luminous qualities. His plastic language approaches a realistic and hyperrealist sensibility, with special attention to detail and to a carefully crafted composition.
The work presents a still life composition centered on two fish with reddish and pinkish tones, laid out on a large bluish-green leaf. The chromatic contrast between the cool tones of the plant and the warmth of the fish reinforces the prominence of the main elements and gives the whole piece great visual impact. The brushstroke, restrained and precise, allows a clear appreciation of the scales, fins and color variations of the pieces, while the treatment of highlights and shadows helps to create a sense of corporeity and realism. The scene recalls the traditional still life reinterpreted from a contemporary sensibility, where the everyday assumes a direct, sober, and carefully studied presence.
The work is presented with a wide-profile wooden frame and moulding, in dark warm tones, with repetitive relief decoration on the outer and inner edges. It also features gilded fillets that enhance the central area and add elegance to the whole. It is a frame of notable presence, classical in character, that visually reinforces the composition and enhances it in a harmonious way.
Dimensions of the work: 19 x 15 cm
Framed dimensions: 33 x 40 cm
