A set of four oak speculaas boards from Belgium, dating to around 1940–1950, in good used condition with small signs of aging and spots.
Description from the seller
This charming set of four antique speculaas boards is a beautiful example of traditional folk craftsmanship, presumably from the 19th century. The boards are hand-carved from wood and show a rich variety of decorative motifs that are typical of the classic speculaas culture.
The largest board is double-sided carved and forms the centerpiece of the set. The detailing is particularly refined, with clear attention to fur textures and ornamentation.
The remaining three boards are each unique: one board displays a sequence of repeating motifs with the year “1813,” which may refer to a historical event or a symbolic year within the baking tradition. Another board is adorned with a series of small animal figures in relief, and the last depicts a scene with a horse and cart, offering a nostalgic glimpse into rural life of yesteryear.
The boards show a beautiful, natural patina and signs of use that emphasize their authenticity and age. Small holes and wear are visible, which is common for this type of object and contribute to their character.
A particularly decorative and collectible ensemble, ideal for enthusiasts of antique kitchen objects, folklore and artisanal traditions.

In good, used condition with clear signs of aging and use, such as wear, small imperfections and a nicely weathered patina. This adds to the authenticity and charm of the object.
