Bronze Age Bronze Arrowhead (No reserve price)
A Bronze Age cast bronze arrowhead, featuring a triangular blade that tapers to a point. The blade presents with downward-sloping pointed barbs and a prominent central midrib, which descends into a short cylindrical stem, leading to a long and narrow tang. A lovely patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as chips to the edges, scratches, and surface roughness. Chip to one of the barb.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites settled in the Western Asiatic region. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of these bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Most of these bronze items have been recovered in funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 18cm x W 3.2cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
