Brass tobacco box and cover from the Guangxu period in China, approximately 9.4 cm long, 2.7 cm high and 4.7 cm deep, weighing 193 g, inscribed with the dedication “To brother Mr. Wen Qing from Pan Yuanduo” and engraved with a mountainous landscape, the case made of copper and brass and in good condition with minimal signs of ageing.

A brass tobacco box and its cover, measuring circa 9,4cm in length and weighing 193g, with engraved decoration to the lid depicting a mountainous landscape and inscribed with the text: To brother Mr. Wen Qing from Pan Yuanduo.
Research indicates the following information on Mr. Pan Yuanduo:
"Based on historical accounts, Pan Yuanduo (潘元鐸) was a Guangdong native active during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period. He was involved in educational and patriotic associations during the final years of the Qing Dynasty.
He served as the Evaluation Chief (評議長) for an association established in Beijing's Sanmenwan (三門灣), which was engaged in patriotic activities surrounding the 1895–1900 period. He was associated with other notable figures of the time, such as Huang Youyuan (黃有淵, Vice Evaluation Chief) and Peng Zhaoxian (彭昭賢).
Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Minimal wear.
