Art Nouveau letter opener / paper knife by Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski – signed – circa 1900
An exceptionally artistically crafted letter opener from the bloom period of Art Nouveau, created by the renowned sculptor Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski.
The object features a finely modeled, lying female nude figure that harmoniously blends into the flowing lines of the handle. The composition combines sculpture and function in an impressive way and stands as an example of the elegant formal language of Art Nouveau.
