Description from the seller
Up for auction is an outstanding example from KPM Berlin (Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur), the historic Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Berlin. This centerpiece embodies the technical perfection and formal elegance that made the Prussian brand the official supplier to European courts.
Technical and Historical Details:
Mark: An authentic blue sceptre, hand-painted under glaze, characterized by the rare stylized three-pronged finial (trident) and control mark. This variant identifies production in the mid-19th century (circa 1840–1870).
Durchbruch technique: The edge is a masterpiece of manual reticulation, executed with impeccable geometric precision that only Berlin masters could achieve.
Relief decoration: The bowl body features the classic basketweave pattern, which enhances the vitreous luster of the finest white porcelain.
Dimensions: 20 cm in diameter – ideal size for an exhibition centerpiece.
Condition:
The piece is preserved in museum-quality condition. Despite the extreme fragility of the reticulation and the age (over 150 years of history), there are no chips, restorations, or hairlines. The glaze is brilliant and free from significant scratches.
