Description from the seller
Large West German Fat Lava Wall Plaque – Vulkan Keramik / Ostara Fliesen – 1960s
In mint condition – No reserve
A striking and highly decorative vintage West German Fat Lava wall plaque from the 1960s, attributed to Vulkan Keramik / Ostara Fliesen, renowned for their bold experimental glazing and expressive Mid-Century Modern ceramic art.
This impressive freeform wall plaque features the iconic “Fat Lava” glazing technique, celebrated for its volcanic textures, vibrant color contrasts, and organic abstract compositions. The dramatic high-gloss surface combines fiery red, orange, yellow, turquoise, green, and deep dark tones, creating a spectacular visual effect reminiscent of lava flows and abstract floral formations.

The irregular organic shape enhances its sculptural presence, making it a true eye-catcher for any interior.
