Description from the seller
Realistic portrait with expressionist nuances of a Native American man.
It is painted on a wooden board for greater expressiveness, using the textures and grain of the wood, the technique is mixed, ranging from oil to spray.
Painted out of love for Native American culture, his attitudes, his way of life.
Interest in the roots of the American continent, history, spirituality or the natural conception of life, shamanism, rituals.
I am Sergio Rivera Martínez, an artist from Madrid. One could say I have been painting since I was born.
Art comes into my life naturally; my grandparents and mother were artisans and artists who worked wood, tapestries, ceramics and, of course, painting.
All the memories I have are tied to painting… At home, at my grandparents’ house, birthday and Christmas gifts that were paint sets, while I watched my favorite cartoons I painted. I painted so much that when I left the house I did it too, and thus I began to experiment with graffiti in my early adolescence until today when I became part of the history book of graffiti in Majadahonda.
Currently I work on canvases with a careful realism in every detail or any expression. I center the motives of my work mainly on nostalgia, retro or/and the classical.
Some of the latest exhibitions in which I have participated:
Madrid Print Fair 2024
Various exhibitions at Espacio Beny 2023-2024
Ciclamen Exhibition, Leucade Gallery 2024
Exhibition Seventy-Two, El Punto Rojo Gallery
Collective exhibition “Hashtag3” Leucade Gallery
Collective exhibition “Essential” Leucade Gallery.
Work Geronimo, mention best visual work of the western genre. Almería Western Film Festival 2017. Among others.
2025-2026 Represented by Galería Herraíz (Madrid)
