Original pen and ink wash page by Jose Ortiz, from the Electro strip in the 1971 POW! Annual, titled Electro defeats Dynamo, measuring 30 cm by 42.8 cm and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
This is the unique original Pen & Ink Wash by Jose Ortiz.
Jose Ortiz has had a long and varied career in Spain, the USA and UK markets. An exciting original colour page from the Electro strip from the 1971 POW! Annual, featuring the electric superhero 'Electro'!
Here Electro is destroying the saw mill Dynamo is using as a hideout.
The 1971 Pow! Annual has gained a somewhat incredible reputation as a comic oddity, as the comic itself ceased publication the year before, but the publisher Odhams had the chance to make one last book... the result was a book packed full of characters and strips which had absolutely nothing to do with the comic! Mainly European artists who were drawing for British strips were involved, including Miguel Quesada, Victor Ibanez, Eustaquio Segrelles, Matias Alonso, Jose Ortiz, Leopoldo Ortiz, Victor Ibanez and Enrique Badia Romero! It was a really unexpected delight and change of style, and a lot of the kids who got the annual at the time still remember it vividly!
