A breathtaking example of Japanese ceremonial textile artistry, this furisode kimono is a striking celebration of traditional beauty and symbolism. Furisode — literally meaning "swinging sleeves" — is the most formal category of kimono worn by young unmarried women in Japan, and has long been the quintessential dress for the coming-of-age ceremony (Seijin-shiki), as well as weddings, formal banquets, and auspicious occasions.

This piece presents an exquisite contrast of colours: a warm, luminous salmon-pink ground transitions dramatically into deep indigo-navy at the shoulders and hem, creating the classic bokashi (gradated ombre) effect that is a hallmark of high-quality yuzen-style dyeing. This bold two-tone composition evokes both the softness of spring dawn and the depth of the night sky.

The surface is richly decorated with a profusion of traditional auspicious motifs rendered in yuzen dyework and accented with kinpaku (gold leaf) and gold pigment highlights.
