Charlotte-Léonie Ardene, called Léo, was born in Antwerp in 1859 or 1860. She is a landscape painter and painter of genre scenes. She was a pupil of Alfred Stevens, under whose influence she developed. She married the Impressionist painter Henri Arden. Some of her works are in the spirit of Symbolism. From 1886 to 1904 she regularly exhibited at the Belgian salons, and at the Paris Salon from 1896.
