Full contemporaneous parchment binding. Text in Latin, clear typography, with physiological signs of age (darkening, slight wear and folds to the paper), in good conservation condition.
The work gathers Caesar's famous military chronicles – in particular De Bello Gallico – with descriptions of campaigns in Gaul, the customs and manners of the peoples, strategies and battles. The engravings illustrate war engines, fortifications and military scenes, enriching the historical-documentary value of the volume.
An extremely interesting edition for the presence of the old map and the accompanying iconography, features not always preserved. Direct testimony to the editorial fortune of Latin classics in the modern era, sought after by collectors of old books, historical cartography and militaria. A rarity on the market in such complete condition.
