Impressive Guéré or Wé mask from Côte d'Ivoire. A powerful, primitive force emanates from this work. This is the primary purpose of these masks: to create fear and dread. In case of clan conflict, these masks come out. They can settle conflicts without blood being shed or the honor of one of the clans being violated.

This mask bears a stern expression, its gaze is piercing, its slightly open mouth is menacing. It shows us its teeth, these in metal. The volumes are skillfully worked and typical of masks from this culture. It is covered with several layers of old paint. The colors are beautiful and vivid. Fabrics adorn the contour of the mask.
