This magnificent hand-blown glass sphere is a rare Artist’s Proof (“AP”) from the “Flacon” series (ref. GA 3) by celebrated French Master Glassmaker Robert Pierini. Born in 1950 in Toulon, Pierini began his glassmaking apprenticeship at the renowned Biot glassworks before establishing his own atelier in a historic 15th-century oil mill in Biot, on the French Riviera.
The sphere captivates with layers of deep amethyst and midnight-toned blown glass, encasing an ethereal interior landscape of organic bubble clusters, spiraling filigree ribbons, and iridescent amber and emerald inclusions. Pierini is celebrated for playing with the contrast between transparency and opacity, preserving intense, luminous colors within thick-walled crystal-clear glass casings.
