Description from the seller

Decorative bronze candlestick with a nautical figure – helmsman – mid 20th century

Decorative and characterful candlestick executed in bronze (or bronze-colored metal), designed as a dynamic male figure in a classical style. The figure stands on a richly worked base with maritime elements, including a ship's tiller and undulating forms.

The expressive pose – with raised arm – gives the whole a powerful and symbolic appearance, possibly inspired by a helmsman or mythological sea figure.

The object dates from the mid 20th century (circa 1950–1970) and is characterized by a warm, natural patina and light signs of use appropriate to the age.

A stylish and decorative collectible that fits well in both classical and eclectic interiors.
