Large pale grey-white nephrite jade sculpture pixiu –China- 20th Century
On offer is a nicely carved pale grey-white nephrite jade sculpture of a pixiu, sitting with an open mouth. This semi-translucent jade sculpture is carved in the Chinese taste, with an eye for detail, like the teeth, claws and hairs. This pixiu sculpture is robust and ruggedly shaped. A very good piece, hard to find!
Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Also checked with UV light; which indicates a natural color. Provenance: This jade comes from inland China. a Valuable and rare jade, very suitable as an addition to your high-end collection or to present as a gift! Please see test results and pictures.
