Description from the seller
This is a large signed original Prince Valiant page drawn by John Cullen Murphy, Hal Foster's hand picked successor. The page is number 2932 from the Prince Valiant saga.
This full page pen and ink artwork was drawn and inked by John Cullen Murphy for strip #2932 of the Prince Valiant saga in 1993 and was published by King Features Syndicate.
This fabulous large page has been drawn on three sections of illustration board, joined on the back. The artwork features Prince Valiant's Son Arn, sailing in to confront the one-legged Mordred, King Arthur's treacherous brother. as well as a whole host of Knights and warriors.
Mordred, feeling a betrayal, and realising that he is surrounded, decides to lash out at Prince Valiant's son with his sword, but the earth is wet underfoot and his peg leg slips.
Drawn in ink over graphite, with some red key lines added for publishing and printing reasons, this makes a great addition to any collection.
Cullen Murphy uses a great variety of inking techniques to convey the narrative and depth of the story, including scraping away at the surface of the page to create a rain effect
Cullen Murphy's signature is prominent in the final panel where the two men are beginning to fight.
