Poles - CHARCOT (Jean-Baptiste). The "Français" at the South Pole. Followed by an Exposé of some of the scientific works by the members of the staff Mss. Matha, Rey, Pléneau, Turquet, Gourdon, Charcot.

Grand octavo, half-green morocco, smooth ornate spine, gilt title, date at the bottom, double gilt border on the boards, gilt head, preserved illustrated cover (Flammarion Vaillant).
Original edition, illustrated with a folding map, a portrait of the author in the frontispiece, and numerous illustrations in the text.
Spine unsunned (or browned) to Havana, rubbed, rare pinpricks; otherwise a good copy, in a binding signed for this account of the first French expedition to Antarctica.
