Satsumachawan 薩摩茶碗(さつまちゃわん)
This is a Satsuma tea bowl with Kinrande gold leaf decoration. Hanabishi patterns are painted in enamels and gold near the rim. The bottom features a kiln mark with the family crest of the Shimazu family. The Shimazu family governed Kagoshima Prefecture for approximately 700 years from the Kamakura period to the Meiji period.
