Hand mirror- Guilloché enamel - (Birmingham, 1921) - .925 silver

Hand mirror, of a good size, made in sterling silver .925 (Birmingham, 1921).

The most striking feature is the blue finish. It is guilloché enamel, a very expensive and delicate technique. Although it is somewhat worn on the left, given the work involved it is very likely to have belonged to a silversmith specializing in luxury grooming items of the era.

The glass shows some backing mercury detachment at the edges (dark spots), which is normal for age and gives it an antique character.
