Montblanc Masterpiece 742N fountain pen with a silver body plated in vermeil, 14K solid gold nib, piston-filling mechanism, origin Germany, mid-20th century, in good used condition with minor signs of wear and in working order, length 12.9 cm, diameter 1.1 cm.
Description from the seller
A0000002068
The pen is presented in very good overall condition, maintaining an excellent aesthetic and structural presence for a vintage model from this era.
The body and cap, made of sterling silver with gold vermeil (vermeil), preserve a homogeneous and bright gold tone, with very light wear consistent with use and age, visible only under close inspection. No dents, dings, or deformations are observed; the wavy engraving remains sharp, deep, and well defined across the entire surface.
The central ring, engraved “Montblanc,” clearly preserves its inscription, with minimal signs of superficial wear, without material loss or deformations. The gold clip is straight, firm, and correctly aligned, maintaining good shine and functional tension.
The white Montblanc emblem at the top of the cap is complete, well centered, and free of cracks, a feature especially valued in this model.
The solid 14C (585) gold nib is original, with well-defined engravings and proper alignment of the tines, with no signs of abnormal wear, bites, or visible repairs. The writing tip preserves a good profile and finish.
The piston-filling system works correctly, with smooth rotation and full travel, a sign of an internal mechanism in good working order.
Overall, it is a honest, cared-for and well-preserved piece, ideal for both collection and occasional use, that maintains the character and elegance of postwar Montblanc Masterpiece models.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Happy bidding!
