Description from the seller
opera in three volumes, published in Milan by the publisher Giovanni Silvestri between 1820 and 1821. It is an edition of great historical value, enriched by the famous commentary of G. Biagioli, a scholar who shaped nineteenth-century Dante criticism. The first volume opens with a refined portrait of Dante in the frontispiece, engraved with meticulous technique (from Brunati's drawing and Rados's engraving), depicting the Supreme Poet in profile with the classical laurel crown. On the title page of each volume there is a typographic vignette with the profile of Dante. This Silvestri edition represents a classic of nineteenth-century Dante bibliography, sought after by collectors both for the authority of Biagioli's commentary and for the aesthetic quality of Milanese printing of the era.
