Cartier - Cougar - Fountain pen

The Cartier Cougar Must de Cartier fountain pen presented in this lot is in excellent overall condition, showing a very well cared-for appearance fully in line with a piece of its category and era.

The body and cap in black resin with a guilloche/godron pattern retain very good brilliance and definition in the vertical grooves, with no material losses or deformations. The surface shows only very light signs of superficial use, practically imperceptible to the naked eye and typical of careful handling over time. The ensemble maintains an elegant and highly attractive aesthetic.

The gold-plated elements — clip, rings and ends — have a bright, uniform finish, with excellent visual presence. No significant wear is observed on the plating, and the pieces retain their structural and aesthetic integrity.

The solid 18-carat gold nib (750), engraved with the Cartier emblem, is in very good condition, correctly aligned and preserving a clean tipping surface. The feed retains its fins in perfect structural condition, guaranteeing proper ink flow regulation.

The writing system has been checked and tested for proper functioning, delivering a fully operational piece ready to write, as is customary with items prepared by Collecting Legacy.

Also included is the original Cartier red leatherette case, which shows a good general state of preservation with slight normal storage signs.

Altogether, this is a very well-preserved fountain pen, elegant and perfectly functional, ideal for daily use as well as for collection.

Conservation recommendations

To keep the pen in optimal condition, use high-quality fountain pen inks, avoiding pigmented inks or inks with particles. If the pen will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to clean it with lukewarm water, dry it properly before storing, and keep it in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Likewise, operate the filling system gently to maintain the mechanism in perfect condition over time.
