Montblanc 644 Masterpiece fountain pen from mid‑20th century Germany, with a black resin body, gold‑plated cap, 14k gold nib, ebonite feed, measuring 13.5 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, in good used condition and fully working.
Description from the seller
A0000003792
The Montblanc 644 fountain pen we present is in a very attractive state of preservation, exhibiting an elegant, well-maintained presence that reflects careful use over time.
The body and grip section, made of high-quality black resin, retain a deep, uniform shine. Very light micro-scratches from use characteristic of a vintage piece are visible only under close inspection, but overall the material is very well preserved, with no cracks or deformations and a clean general aesthetic.
The gold-plated metal cap shows a natural patina that is very characteristic and adds a pleasing vintage character to the piece. The surface displays even, elegant wear with soft signs of the passage of time that do not affect the cap’s structural integrity. The clip maintains its correct shape and functionality, with good fit and alignment.
At the top of the cap the Montblanc emblem is clearly visible, well defined and properly seated. The model number “644” engraving on the finial remains visible, which helps correctly identify this reference within the brand’s classic line.
The original Montblanc 14-karat (14C) gold nib is in very good condition, with sharp engravings and no structural deformations. The tip shows correct alignment and preserves its proper shape, showing normal signs of use compatible with the piece’s age.
The ebonite feed appears clean and well preserved, maintaining its intact structure and ink feeding function.
The pen has been serviced and tested, delivered fully functional and ready for use, as is customary for pieces prepared by Collecting Legacy.
Overall, this is a Montblanc 644 with a highly attractive vintage aesthetic, where the cap’s metallic patina adds character without compromising the piece’s overall good condition.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve this fountain pen in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality inks formulated for fountain pens, avoiding pigmented inks or those with particulates. If not used for an extended period, it should be cleaned with lukewarm water, dried completely before storage, and kept in a dry place away from direct light and extreme temperatures. The mechanism should always be operated gently to ensure proper longevity.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
