Description from the seller
Art Deco amber pressed glass centerpiece – Scailmont, Henri Heemskerk – Belgium, circa 1930
Superb Art Deco centerpiece in amber-tinged pressed glass, produced in Belgium around 1930 and attributed to the Verreries de Scailmont (Manage, Hainaut).
This model fully embodies the geometric aesthetics of the interwar period, with a radiant composition characterized by pronounced vertical gadroons, a rosette base, and a scalloped edge. The stylized side extensions reinforce the architectural character of the piece, typical of Belgian Art Deco design.
The creation is attributed to Henri Heemskerk, then artistic director of the manufactory, whose work follows in the tradition of the Charles Catteau school. This type of production perfectly illustrates the dialogue between structured design and high-quality industrial glass production during that period.
The model is known in several color variants (notably blue, amber, green), which confirms a steady, sought-after production by Art Deco glass collectors.
