Description from the seller

Rosenthal – set of three vases “Enghalsvasen” | design Hanns Hoffmann-Lederer, 1954 | model 2675 | Mid-Century Modern

Set of three original Rosenthal vases, model “Enghalsvasen” (narrow, leaning neck), designed in 1954 by Hanns Hoffmann-Lederer, one of the leading designers in Rosenthal's artistic department in the mid-20th century.
Sleek, asymmetrical forms with a slanted neck and decoration in the form of vertically hand-painted lines, iconic of the 1950s modernist style.

Signatures and dating

– green Rosenthal Germany Kunstabteilung Selb signatures (post-1957)
– hand decoration in black and gray underglaze
– partially visible engraved model number 2675
– production in the 1950s, 1st and 2nd quality

Material

Hard-paste white porcelain, glazed, decorated underglaze.

Form

Pointed, oval base, dynamic body line rising into a leaning neck – a typical modernist design from 1950–1959.

Dimensions

– each vase: height 25 cm

Condition

Very good condition for age. No cracks or repairs. Minimal signs of use. Signatures and decoration clearly preserved.

Provenance

Otto Bantele Collection (Germany).

Collector’s notes

The “Enghalsvasen” model is among the less common Rosenthal designs from the 1950s, especially as a set of three with cohesive heights. Hoffmann-Lederer’s designs are now particularly sought after by collectors of postwar German design.
