Set of 5 Baccarat Highball Glasses – Model "Chauny" – Circa 1940-1950.
Exquisite specimen of the historic French manufactory, this set of six Highball (Long Drink) glasses belongs to the iconic Chauny model, one of Baccarat's most celebrated lines for the balance between geometric rigor and the brilliance of crystal.
Technical and Historical Details
Producer: Baccarat (France).
Model: Chauny.
Production Period: Around 1940 - 1950.
Material: Mouth-blown lead crystal cut by hand.
Authenticity Mark: Acid-etched circular signature "Baccarat France" present on the base of each piece, as per post-1936 production standard.
Aesthetic and Design Analysis
The Chauny model is distinguished by its honeycomb (alveolar) decoration that covers the lower half of the drinkware. This work is not merely ornamental: the diamond-shaped facets are designed to refract light, emphasizing the crystal's clarity and the color of the contents.
