Rare 1952 King Bros. & Cristiani Combined Circus Window Card
Circa: 1952
Dimensions: Approx.93 x 197cm,Combined poster and date as used by the advance party.
Printer: Globe Poster Corp. (attributed)
Origin: Saco-Biddeford, Maine
Description: An authentic, mid-century circus window card advertising the "King Bros. and Cristiani Combined Circus." This vibrant lithograph features the classic "CIRCUS" block-lettering motif, intricately filled with detailed illustrations of the era's premier acts, including the famed Cristiani family equestrians, acrobats, and exotic menagerie.
This specific example features the rare "Saco-Biddeford" date tail, printed for the Wednesday, June 18th 1952 engagement at the Franklin St. Show Grounds. The presence of the Allied Printing Trades Council union label (Union Bug) confirms its status as a period-correct original produced during the brief three-year partnership (1950–1952) of these two circus giants.
Condition Report: Very Good.I believe the poster remains attached to its original heavy-stock mounting as issued for window display ? The card backing is in good condition,this is ready for framing or hanging as is . Colors remain remarkably bold with minimal sun fading. Minor peripheral wear and light toning consistent with age and authentic use in the "advance" circuit.
Historical Note: The Cristiani family were internationally renowned as "The Royal Family of the Circus."
