Description from the seller

Max Le Verrier (1891–1973) – for bookends of the book "The Nobleman and the Shoemaker" – Art Deco, France
Elegant pair of sculptural bookends by Max Le Verrier – one of the most recognizable French Art Deco creators.
The composition features two figures: a shoemaker at work and a nobleman seated in an armchair. The set creates an interesting social and narrative contrast, characteristic of Le Verrier's work. The forms are distinctly stylized, with soft lines and subtly crafted details, typical of the aesthetics of the 1920s–1930s.
The sculptures are made from patinated metal (zinc alloy), mounted on solid bases of black marble. Signed “M. Le Verrier”.
Condition: very good, no damage, natural patina consistent with age.
Origin: France
Period: circa 1930
Material: zinc alloy, marble
Style: Art Deco
Number of pieces: 2
A distinctive and decorative set that combines functionality with sculptural form – ideal for a library, study, or Art Deco art collection.
