A hand-painted wooden duck decoy from Europe, dating to ca. 1950–1980, measuring about 29 cm long and 12 cm high.
Description from the seller
A characterful and authentic wooden duck decoy, originally used as a lure bird and today a atmospheric decorative object with a rich appearance.
This hand-painted wooden duck is a beautiful example of a traditional duck decoy, a lure bird that was used during hunting. The underside features original holes for lead weighting, which confirms that this piece was actually functional and not merely decorative.
The shape and painting are inspired by the wild duck (mallard), executed in a sober, lightly weathered color scheme that gives the object a warm and well-traveled look. The visible signs of use and patina contribute to the authenticity and charm.
Today this type of object is particularly valued as a decorative item within country, coastal, or rustic interiors.
