Description from the seller
Lot: Amsterdam School bronze letter holder & paperweight with opal – Netherlands, circa 1930
A characteristic lot consisting of a bronze letter holder and a matching paperweight, executed in the style of the Amsterdam School, dating from around 1930 and originating from the Netherlands. Both objects display the distinctive expressive formal language of this influential design movement.
The pieces are made of bronze and feature geometric lines and artisanal finish, typical of the Amsterdam School. Both the letter holder and the paperweight are equipped with a central opal, which, with its subtle play of colour, forms a beautiful contrast with the warm metal.
Such objects were designed as functional desk accessories, where practicality and aesthetics come together. The combination of both pieces in one lot makes this an attractive and coherent whole.
A special and decorative duo, suitable for lovers of Dutch design and interwar craftsmanship.
