Disney Studio preliminary drawing of Br'er Rabbit, published by Disney; 32 cm by 23 cm, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Storyboard sketch of Brer Rabbit & Rein Vos
dimensions: 32.5 cm x 23.5 cm
For the Disney weekly Donald Duck.
The character first became world-famous in 1946, thanks to Disney's feature-length animated film Song of the South. The film's success led to a spin-off comic series, which in Dutch has also been published in Donald Duck.
Famous comics authors include Dick Moores and George Stallings, whose strips come from the 1940s and 1950s, and whose one-page gags also appeared on the back cover of Donald Duck in 1981.
Also in 1974 Brer Rabbit was on the back cover of the weekly magazine.
Since 2021 there have been no Brer Rabbit stories in Donald Duck anymore. The WDC wanted to sever all connections with their earlier film Song of the South because of the controversies surrounding that film, which also caused the Brer Rabbit character to fall out of use.
There was some resistance from the Netherlands, because by far the majority of current readers of the weekly magazine do not know the film, and Brer Rabbit as such had nothing to do with the objectionable parts of the 1946 film.
