Hat stand - Wood - hat block

This is an antique wooden hat block (millinery head), often used by hatters to shape hats or as a display figure.
Made from wood in four parts. The head is hollow (so not solid) and has a natural finish and signs of use.
Used for making hats. The small holes on top of the wooden heads were caused by the pins with which the head coverings were secured.
Nowadays popular as a decorative object or display for hats and wigs.
