Description from the seller
An iconic piece of Belgian glass art from the Art Deco era. This goblet made of luminous green uranium glass (Ouraline) comes from the famous Verrerie de Scailmont manufactory.
The glass was originally part of a “Tumble-up” night set and served as a precisely fitting closure for a corresponding round water bottle.
Design & features: The glass impresses with its strictly geometric relief decoration featuring diamond and star motifs, typical of Henri Heemskerk's designs, who at that time shaped the artistic face of Scailmont.
Special feature: Due to the addition of uranium oxide in the glass mixture, the piece exhibits strong fluorescence. Under UV light (blacklight) it glows intensely neon green.
A must-have for collectors of uranium glass and European pressed glass from the interwar period.
Reference: A well-known model from the Verrerie de Scailmont product catalog (Manage, Belgium). The glass is in excellent condition for its age, without cracks or chips, a condition rarely found. (Small manufacturing air bubbles in the glass are normal for pressed glass of this era.)
