MAROTTE KEBE KEBE KUYU, Zaire

Hard wood with a brown patina, kaolin, pigments, with nicks.

Very beautiful fetish figure of great aesthetic quality; it retains a very beautiful original polychromy. It is adorned with a face characteristic of the style, the almond-shaped eyes carved with a slight relief, on either side of a schematic nose. The mouth, of the same elongated shape as the gaze, opens onto teeth that are carved into points. A second face? is sculpted on the back.

Fine antiquity / First half of the 20th century.
Hard, light wood, tinted with natural pigments.
