Description from the seller
Lantern in Brass with Oval Beveled Glass and Star Engraving – c. 1930–1960 – Late Art Deco / European Traditional Style
Elegant hanging lantern in worked brass, with a warm patinated finish, typical of European production in the first half of the 20th century. The body is composed of 5 oval glass panels, each decorated with starburst engraving, a motif highly valued in late Art Deco design and in English and French classic lanterns of the period.
The upper and lower structures feature ornamental friezes, giving a balance between geometric sobriety and decorative detail. Inside, the fixture accommodates 3 lamps, providing soft, enveloping illumination, ideal for entryways, hallways, dining rooms, or spaces that value pieces with historical character.
This type of lantern was common in manor houses, hotels, and institutional buildings between the 1930s and 1960s, combining durability, elegance, and a touch of discreet luxury.
Era: c. 1930–1960
Style: Late Art Deco / European Traditional
Materials: Solid brass and engraved beveled glass
Condition: Very good, with natural patina and age-related signs consistent with authenticity
