Description from the seller

Rare Meissen porcelain cup with sword mark & star, dating from around 1770–1800!!

An exceptionally finely painted porcelain cup from the famous Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, produced around 1800.

The delicate vessel features a masterfully executed pastoral scene: a child in rural clothing, surrounded by sheep, set in an idyllic landscape. The portrayal captivates with its remarkable attention to detail and the finely graduated coloring that lends the scene an almost painterly liveliness.

The rim is adorned with elegant gilt gilding and a cobalt blue band decoration, strikingly reflecting the classical formal canon of the period.

The underside bears the characteristic sword mark in underglaze blue, complemented by a star, a hint to the early origin of the piece in the late 18th to early 19th century.

An authentic and collectible example of early Meissen porcelain art, which impresses with its refined execution and decorative appeal.
