Description from the seller

This magnificent bronze triptych of the Dancing Faun is a faithful reproduction of one of the most iconic masterpieces of ancient art, originally discovered in Pompeii and now preserved at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli.

The sculpture portrays a dancing faun, a powerful symbol of fertility, abundance, and ecstatic vitality in Greco-Roman culture. His dynamic posture and joyful expression embody movement, freedom, and the celebration of life. The faun—mythological companion of Dionysian rites—has fascinated viewers for centuries as an eternal representation of nature’s untamed energy and festive spirit.

This bronze piece has been produced using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. It derives from a historical mould taken from the original at the beginning of the 20th century by the renowned Fonderia Chiurazzi of Naples. The foundry was famous for producing monumental works as well as high-quality reproductions of classical sculptures from major museums, supplying the flourishing Grand Tour market of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Features
• Material: Bronze, lost-wax casting
• Composition: Triptych (set of three sculptures)
• Dimensions (each piece): approx. 25 cm height × 10 cm width × 10 cm depth
• Weight: proportional to size
• Patina: Obtained by heating the bronze and applying nitric acid and copper with a brush
• Handmade in Italy
