Description from the seller
The Parisian gallery CHENUS LONGHI presents “Moments After,” an original on raw linen canvas by the artist Eddie Colla, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
In this unpublished piece, Eddie Colla develops a feminine figure captured in a suspended moment, between tension and surrender. The image is built layer by layer, blending photography, material, and painting in a fragmented composition that reveals seams, cuts, and assemblies.
The textile dimension plays a central role here: the canvas, left free and worked as a raw material, is hand-sewn and assembled by Rachel Riot, the artist’s partner and muse. This collaboration comes at a time when she is developing her own clothing line based on upcycling Eddie Colla’s visuals, thereby extending the artist’s work into another field.
“Moments After” fully embodies Eddie Colla’s practice, where image, support, and gesture converse to create works that are at once fragile and resilient, between memory and transformation.
• Original work signed and dated on the back;
• Comes with its certificate of authenticity;
• Very careful packaging;
• Shipment with insurance and tracking;
• If you reside in the Paris region, you can come and collect the work directly at our gallery located in the 11th arrondissement.
About the artist
Eddie Colla is an American artist active since the 2000s. Formerly a photographer and art director for various magazines such as the New York Times, he began placing his stencils and collages in California. Then, in 2012, he began to occupy the streets of Paris before settling there permanently a while later. His universe is marked by masked human figures, evolving in dystopian environments. Through these characters, he tackles themes such as surveillance, resistance, or isolation in our contemporary societies. He regularly exhibits in galleries in Europe and the United States, while also developing a studio practice that extends his interventions into urban space.
Eddie Colla is part of the street art movement, alongside artists such as Vhils, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JonOne, Kaws, Futura.
