Description from the seller

Ingoma, a traditional drum that is deeply rooted in the culture of the Tutsi in Rwanda and Burundi. These drums were historically symbols of royal power and were used during important ceremonies and at the king's court.
Material

Wood: The body is hollowed out from a single piece, usually from the Umuvugangoma tree (which literally means 'the tree that makes the drum speak'). Skins: Two skins are used (usually from cattle skin), which are woven together with a complex network of hide strips. This gives the drum its iconic appearance.
