Description from the seller
Original Amsterdam School wall lamp – Bronze & Stained Glass – ca. 1920s/1930s
A particularly handsome and authentic wall lamp in the characteristic style of the Amsterdam School / Art Deco. This rare Dutch design lamp likely dates from the 1920s–1930s and is executed in an expressive triangular form with beautifully stained glass in warm reds, oranges and whites.
Strongly related to the work of H. Herens / De Nieuwe Honsel, the workshop that produced lighting for, among others, the Tuschinski cinema in Amsterdam.
The lamp possesses all the features of the Amsterdam School: powerful geometric lines, artisanal materials and a decorative appearance with an almost architectural character. The heavy metal frame has a beautiful dark patina with a bronze-like appearance, giving the object a warm and timeless feel.
When the lamp is lit, a atmospheric, diffuse light play emerges through the hand-painted / stained glass — a true eye-catcher in both classic and modern interiors.
Condition
The wall lamp is in a beautiful, original vintage state with appropriate signs of use that emphasize its authenticity.
* Original old socket present
* Glass shows light discoloration / aging in a few spots due to decades of warmth from the incandescent bulb
