Description from the seller
The Parisian gallery CHENUS LONGHI presents “Cypher,” an original three-dimensional work by the female artist Hydrane, which comes with its certificate of authenticity.
Hydrane continues here her exploration of rhythm, line, and balance. Inspired by the cypher — “that suspended moment when MCs improvise in a circle, line after line” — the artist assembles fragments of maquettes, cardboard, and textured papers in a free, almost instinctive gesture. Marked by a trip to New York, she retains from it the verticality, which she translates into this slender composition, built without a preliminary plan, “as one would freestyling.” At the heart of the structure, tiny characters punctuate the whole. Discreet yet essential, they introduce scale, a silent narration, and reinforce the idea of an inhabited, evolving architecture. This work, which invites architecture and hip-hop culture to dialogue, is absolutely magical!

About the artist
Hydrane is a French artist, trained in architecture at the Paris-Belleville school. She lives and works today between Paris and New York. Nourished by her Peruvian roots, she develops an abstract and colorful language inspired by Pre-Columbian archaeology, the Nazca lines, and Andean textiles. Her work explores the link between art and architecture, between intimate and universal. Her works take the form of drawings, paintings, sculptures, or urban projects, with a constant regard to scale and support. Since her first murals in Brazil in 2017, she has realized numerous monumental walls, notably in France and South America.
Hydrane, under 40, is part of this generation of transdisciplinary urban artists, brimming with energy and talent, and comes to echo the work of artists such as Vhils, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JonOne, Kaws, Futura.
