Description from the seller
The Paris gallery CHENUS LONGHI presents “It Becomes Blue,” an original work by the artist Le Cyklop that comes with its certificate of authenticity. It fits within the emblematic practice of CyKlop, who distorts urban furniture to create sculptural figures, using stencil technique. Starting from a Parisian anti-parking bollard, a functional object par excellence, the artist performs a simple yet immediate transformation: the addition of an eye, CyKlop’s signature, is enough to shift the object into another register.
The bollard becomes a character, a presence, a gaze in space. Between sculpture and urban intervention, this work condenses the essence of his practice: transforming reality without concealing it, revealing the city’s poetic potential, and inviting viewers to see what surrounds us differently. We love it!
• Original work signed by stencil on its platinum base;
• Comes with its certificate of authenticity;
• Very careful packaging;
• Shipped with insurance and tracking;
• If you reside in the Paris region, you can pick up the work directly at our gallery located in the 11th arrondissement.
About the artist
Le CyKlop has been developing since the 2000s a distinctive practice in the urban space, transforming everyday elements — bollards, posts, furniture — into cyclopean sculptures. His work revolves around the motif of the Cyclops, which he reinterprets as a figure that is both mythological and contemporary. Through this single eye, he offers another reading of the city, between anthropomorphism, play, and subversion.
His interventions, often in situ, fit into an accessible and participatory approach to street art. He does not mark territory; he transforms it: a street corner becomes a stage, a functional object becomes a work.
Between humor, poetry, and references to Greek mythology, his work creates a discreet dialogue with passersby. Shapes appear without imposing themselves, in a register where the fantastical brushes against reality — an invitation to see the city differently. His studio works come from urban furniture itself, most often the famous anti-parking bollards, as original relics of this in situ work.
Le Cyklop is part of the street art movement, alongside artists such as Vhils, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JonOne, Kaws, Futura.
