An expressive pair of large, mass-produced silver earrings from the tradition of the Berbers and Tuareg of North Africa, dating to the first half of the 20th century.
The archaic-geometric form with a triangular upper part, shield-shaped center, and spherical pendants corresponds to the classic jewelry style of these nomadic cultures. Such earrings served both as adornment and as amulet.
Made from solid silver sheet with punched and engraved ornaments; the simple back is typical of authentic tribal jewelry.
Silver tested: at least 800.
