Lidded pot on four feet in stoneware – Jan van de Kerkhove (1927-2007)

A magnificent artist's ceramic piece signed by the Belgian ceramist Jan van de Kerkhove (Courtrai, 1927-2007).

Form: A cylindrical pot resting on four massive feet, two side handles, and a lid topped by a long neck ending in a stylized head (totemic figure).

Decoration: Entirely hand-incised with large concentric spirals and primitive geometric motifs, very characteristic of his style.

Material & technique: Stoneware with a grey-green metallic glaze with coppery reflections, giving an almost antique bronze appearance.

Signature: « Jan van de Kerkhove » clearly legible on the base.

Magnifique pièce de céramique d’artiste signée par le céramiste belge Jan van de Kerkhove (Courtrai, 1927-2007).

Forme : Pot cylindrique reposant sur quatre pieds massifs, deux anses latérales et un couvercle surmonté d’un long col terminé par une tête stylisée (figure totémique).

Décor : Entièrement incisé à la main avec de grandes spirales concentriques et motifs géométriques primitivistes, très caractéristiques de son style.

Matériau & technique : Grès à glaçure métallique grise-vert aux reflets cuivrés, donnant un aspect presque bronze ancien.

Signature : « Jan van de Kerkhove » clairement lisible sur la base.
