"Abroad" is a famous Victorian children's travel book written and illustrated by Thomas Crane (often abbreviated as Thos. Crane) and Ellen Elizabeth Houghton. The book follows an English family—a father, a nanny/teacher named Miss Earle, and four children named Nellie, Dennis, Mabel, and Rose—as they travel from London to France. The characters cross the English Channel and explore various destinations including Boulogne, Rouen, Caen, Paris, and Normandy before returning via Calais and Dover.
