This 19th-century Mamluk bowl is a masterwork of Islamic metalwork, crafted in brass.

The central band features a powerful Thuluth inscription with blessings for an anonymous owner, alternated with round medallions bearing stylized floral motifs.

The upper and lower rims are decorated with a classical meander, or 'Greek key' pattern, reflecting the intercultural exchange between the Islamic world and East Asia during the Mongol period.

Deze Mamluk-kom uit de 19e eeuw is een meesterwerk van islamitische metaalbewerking, vervaardigd uit messing. 

De centrale band is voorzien van een krachtig Thuluth-schrift met zegeningen voor een anonieme eigenaar, afgewisseld met ronde medaillons met gestileerde bloemmotieven.

De boven- en onderrand zijn versierd met een klassiek meander- of 'Griekse sleutel'-patroon, dat de interculturele uitwisseling tussen de islamitische wereld en Oost-Azië tijdens de Mongoolse periode weerspiegelt.
